Keto Diet – High-fat diet that limits carb intake.
Paleo Diet – AKA the caveman diet. This diet is heavy on meat and limits grains and diary.
IFFYM – Also known as flexible dieting, a diet based on calories, and the right proportion of macronutrients.
Weight Watchers – Program based on a smart points system that limits your food intake.
Vegan Diet – Does not include any animal products meaning no meat, eggs, dairy, etc.
Flexitarian Diet – A flexible approach to being a vegetarian. This diet limits meat consumption.
What do all of these diets have in common? They are ALL limiting something, which limits your calorie consumption, putting you into a caloric deficit. The common ground that every diet shares is the calorie deficit. It’s just how you go about it that is different. So when choosing a diet, look at what you can see yourself doing long-term. Do you see yourself never eating animal products ever again? Then explore the Vegan Diet. Do you prefer fat over carbs? Explore Keto. If you can’t see yourself limiting one specific food group or one macronutrient long-term, then IFFYM would be a great option.
In picking out a diet, choose the option that best fits your current lifestyle. Dieting is already stressful enough on your mind and body, so don’t add more stress to it by changing everything you are doing at one time.
