We’ve all been to and will attend holiday parties this year with the food proudly displayed on a bar or table, ready to be devoured. The food placed where all of the conversations are happening so we can chat, drink, and eat all in one place. It’s convenient; I get it. Unfortunately for those of us on a diet or maintaining our weight, this is a terrible setup as we hover and eat, hover and drink, hover, and eat some more until our bellies are full, and we have no idea what or how much we ate or drank.
Don’t hover! With the food spread out in such a beautiful way, it’s going to be hard not to dive in. So don’t stand over it all night. But if the food is the centerpiece of the evening, get a plate and put your food on it. This way, you will be able to see what you are eating, rather than just nibbling here and there. It’s hard to track nibbles and much easier to track if you put the food on a plate. Dishing out the food onto your plate allows you to visibly see the quantity that you are eating, instead of just trying to remember the nibbles.
You will be loosely tracking as you’ll have no idea what they used to make each item, but loosely tracking is far better than just throwing in the towel and eating the place down.
More useful holiday tips are coming throughout the week! Tis the season. 🎅🏼
