How to Eat Out and Stay on Track

Food is a central part of our social lives.

You get together with friends and family around a table full of delicious food.

The memories and fun times at these occasions are not something you should miss out on.

But you want to stay on track towards your goals and not feel any guilt or regret.

Here’s what you need to do to make that happen.

Plan ahead

The simple act of planning ahead gets overlooked so much.

Planning ahead means you can make practical decisions that ensure both enjoyment and adherence to your plan.

Here’s a list of things you can do to plan ahead effectively;

  • Look at the menu online before you go for a meal… this way you can choose your order and not get sucked into bad decisions in the heat of the moment
  • Make adjustments if necessary… ask for no oil, sauce on the side, etc restaurants will accommodate slight adjustments and there will be options that are less calorie dense
  • Share orders with your friends… don’t be a Joey and share with folks around the table
  • Choose between alcohol, entrees, and desserts ahead of time… you can have what you like but you can’t have everything you like.
  • Don’t go into the meal hungry… fill up on lean protein sources and fibre dense foods cos if you’re hungry (or hangry) you’ll make dumb choices.
  • Tone down your fascination with a particular meal… it’s short term pleasure over long term progress and your brain always hypes up food when you’re focused on fat loss

Nothing in that list is complicated.

It all comes to you taking control of your situation and being proactive.

Fat loss is easier when you’re proactive.

But when you’re reactive…

You make dumb decisions like…

“Screw it, Imma eat all these wings with fries and a milkshake, I deserve it”

“I’ll just eat what I want and get back on track tomorrow”

“I’ll use these calories to fuel an epic workout”

All of these decisions are moving you further away from your fat loss goals.

Take charge by looking ahead.

That’s how you get the best of both worlds.

Results AND a fulfilling lifestyle.

Action Steps:

  • Look at what you have coming up in your social life.
  • Implement the practical steps I laid out above and follow through on them.
  • Take the time to appreciate how you feel using these strategies vs how you used to feel when you were being reactive and making bad decisions.
