But what is intermittent fasting? Intermittent fasting is an eating pattern where you cycle between periods of eating and fasting. The most common cycle is a 16 hour fasting period with an 8-hour eating window. I utilize this way of eating and also implement it with a lot of my clients, particularly ones that struggle with going over their calorie intake in the beginning as it helps limit calories throughout the entire day.
Utilize intermittent fasting. How do you do this? On the day (s) that you are celebrating the holidays with a big meal, plan on skipping breakfast and not having any calorie intake until the big meal. If the big meal isn’t until that evening, you’ll want to break the fast around lunchtime with some protein and produce. Going this route will save the majority of your calorie intake for the big meal. That’s it; it’s that easy.
Here are some quick tips to fight the hunger if you aren’t used to intermittent fasting:
-Coffee (black)
-Carbonated Water
-Exercise
-Go on a walk
-Drink water
-Keep your mind busy
